Aromatherapy Book
- The Heart of Aromatherapy by Andrea Butje – This book is ideal for beginners. Andrea introduces the reader to 40 essential oils. There are also a variety of carriers. The material is easy to understand and fun. She gives the oils personality which for many makes them more relatable. There is a good focus on safety, so anyone can feel comfortable following the recipes.
- Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit by Gabriel Mojay – This book would be good for beginners. It is a great introductory book for anyone interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It provides a seamless integration of TCM and essential oils for healing mind body and spirit. The recipes and recommendations are simple. There is easy to understand safety information.
- Authentic Aromatherapy by Sharon Falsetto – This book is also good for beginners. It includes good information about the history and quality of essential oils. In the section about the individual oils Sharon offers suggestions for ways to use them based on the safety. It creates an easy reference if the oil would be safe for children or babies.
- The Secret Healer Series by Elizabeth Ashley – Elizabeth has created a series of books that has valuable information for professional aromatherapists. There are also several books that take a deep and historical look at individual plants. I truly enjoyed the exploration in the book on Monarda. She also recently released a book with an in depth look at Cannabis.
- Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals by Kristen Leigh Bell – This book is older but has good information for essential oil use with animals. Many books for animals lack good detailed information.
- Aromatherapy A Holistic Guide to Natural Healing with Essential Oils by Valerie Gennari Cooksley – This is a more advanced book. Valerie combines her years of nursing and aromatherapy knowledge to provide solid information.
- The Complete Aromatherapy & Essential Oils Handbook for Everyday Wellness by Nerys Purchon and Lora Cantele – This book includes profiles for 109 essential oils and countless recipes for uses. I would recommend it for the serious user. The book has an easy to use layout. It provides good safety information for users of any age.
- The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood – Valerie recently released a revised and expanded edition of her book. The original was one of my first aromatherapy books. The new version is full of over 800 recipes. This is a more advanced book with lots of information.
- Aromatherapy and Vibrational Healing by Margaret Ann Lembo – This book combines a variety of healing modalities. Margaret has a beautiful way of connecting material and spiritual concepts to create complete healing picture. If you are interested in the combination of plant and gemstone healing, then this is an ideal book.
- Essential Oil Safety 2nd Edition by Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young – This is an advanced book, but one that every person using essential oils should at least look at. This provides a comprehensive guideline for safe uses of essential oils based on chemistry and research that has already been done.
When it comes to aromatherapy books there are over 6,000 to choose from (based on an Amazon search). Knowing which ones provide accurate information isn’t always easy. I hope this list will provide you with a good start. I want to help you continue your aromatic journey to good health.
